About Lurleen Ladd
Lurleen Ladd is an accomplished singer-songwriter whose career began with an inspired trip to Nashville in 2005. Since then she has written and performed with many revered Austin producers and musicians, including Mark Hallman and Eddy Hobizal.
Lurleen’s diverse musical inspirations include a Carole King, Linda Rondstadt, and Adele. Her first album “Magnolia and Azalea Dreams” highlights the compelling energy and intense honesty that characterizes her unique songwriting style.
Magnolia and Azalea Dreams includes the work of Kyle Thompson on drums, Chris Maresh on bass, David Pulkingham on guitar, backing vocals from Ange K. And Sheree Smith, along with musical direction from producer Eddy Hobizal on keys.
Lurleen, also an entrepreneur and community advocate, has used her music to support the two Central Texas organizations she founded: the Shade Project, a non-profit dedicated to skin cancer prevention and Halloween by Design, an event company raising money for local non-profits.
About the Band
Eddy Hobizal has produced critically-acclaimed albums for Sara Hickman, David Pulkingham (featuring Patty Griffin and Lloyd Maines), Elias Haslanger (featuring Dr. James Polk, former music director for Ray Charles), and many other musicians of varying genres. He has also produced two albums of original music, Anamnesis and Kinetic, currently available on iTunes and operates his own recording and teaching facility, Treehouse Recording Studio.
Grammy ® Award nominee Chris Maresh has firmly established himself as one of the most in demand studio and live performance musicians in Austin, Texas. He has released two solo albums of original compositions, Tomorrow and Side Street. Chris has performed and recorded with artists including Eric Johnson, Mike Stern, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Pinetop Perkins, Mitch Watkins, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, and Michael McDonald.
Kyle Thompson, a native Texan, has been playing drums in the Austin area and beyond for almost 20 years. His musical range is extremely diverse and he can be seen playing jazz gigs, backing singer-songwriters, and rocking out. Kyle focuses on good music and can currently be seen sharing the stage with the Dupree Organ Trio, Suzanna Choffel, Tacks the Boy Disaster, Drew Smith, Charanga Cakewalk, and countless others.
Kevin specializes in rock, blues and acoustic music. He produces and records his own material including five solo records. Originally in the bands Soulhat and Wrenfo, Kevin has gone on to record and play with stellar artists such as Bob Schneider, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis, Fastball, Martin Zellar, K Phillips and Earthpig and Fire. Kevin has been teaching at the Austin School of Music since 2005.
